If you need to get your construction NVQ through workplace assessment, please get in touch with us today.

We’ve successfully delivered thousands of construction NVQs over the last ten years, and we offer excellent value for money compared to colleges and other training providers. Most of our construction NVQ assessors have at least ten years of experience in the industry, and they work fast – we’ll aim to complete your Level 2 NVQ in 6-12 weeks. If you’re not eligible for government funding and need to finance the NVQ in construction yourself, we offer a flexible four-part payment plan.

An NVQ in construction qualification recognises that you’ve reached a certain level of expertise in your trade and demonstrates your ability to work safely and efficiently. Together with a CSCS card, your construction NVQ validates your skill and experience in the eyes of people who’ve never seen you working, such as potential employers, site managers or new clients. For insulation installers and firms, construction NVQs demonstrate competency for PAS2035 and government-funded schemes such as Eco4.

We deliver our construction NVQs through the Onsite Assessment (OSAT) route. We will assign you an NVQ assessor who will work with you for the duration of the course as you build a portfolio of evidence documenting your skills and experience in your job.

Types of evidence may include:

  • An onsite observation while you work, carried out by your assessor in your workplace.
  • Photographs or videos of you working.
  • References, employer endorsements or witness testimonies verifying your work in construction.
  • Detailed job logs of work you have completed.
  • A recorded 1-to-1 professional discussion with your assessor either face-to-face or over the telephone.
  • Coursework covering ‘theory’ and construction health and safety.
  • Evidence of previous construction-related training and qualifications.
  • Company documentation (e.g. site induction records, risk assessments etc).

Your construction NVQ consists of two parts – knowledge and practice. The knowledge side of the qualification involves answering a series of questions relating to your specific trade and health & safety. These can be handwritten or typed on a word processor. Your assessor will be available by phone and email to provide support and guidance. If you have a learning difficulty such as dyslexia, your assessor will provide extra support with your knowledge questions.

When all evidence has been collected, your assessor will submit your portfolio for verification. You will receive your construction NVQ certificate shortly after and can then apply for your CSCS Card.

Onsite construction NVQ assessment is for experienced construction workers who meet the recognised occupational standards. You’ll need to be at least 19 years old, currently employed (or self-employed) and have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in your trade.

Construction NVQs are for people who want to further their career in construction and level up their CSCS card.

Although it can take up to six months to achieve a construction NVQ, we find that most workers complete Level 2 in two to three months, and Level 3 in three to four months. Ultimately, the qualification will fit around your professional and personal commitments. Work towards it at a speed you feel comfortable.

Starting a construction NVQ with is as simple as getting in touch with us and getting signed up. If you want to start a construction NVQ with us and to check your eligibility for government funding, get in touch with us today. Our friendly team will be in contact to help you through the process, and get you started with your NVQ in construction.
