Carpentry NVQs
Who are they for?

Our Carpentry NVQs are built for working carpenters who want a qualification that reflects what they already do well. You don’t need a classroom, a textbook, or a day off site. You need an assessor who’ll sign off the work in front of them.

Unsure? Give us a ring. The call usually takes ten minutes.

On-site construction NVQ training and assessment with DMR Training

Carpentry course or NVQ?
Which do you need?

A college carpentry course teaches beginners the basics in a classroom, often over a year or more. A carpentry NVQ is different: it certifies the skills you already use, through on-site assessment while you work, with no college required. If you are already working in the trade, the NVQ is the faster route, and it unlocks the CSCS cards employers ask for. Choose the NVQ Level 2 Site Carpentry for skilled site carpenters or the NVQ Level 3 Site Carpentry & Joinery for advanced carpenters and joiners.

What are the benefits of gaining a Carpentry NVQ?

A Carpentry NVQ proves your competence to clients, main contractors and CSCS. It unlocks the right card for your level (blue at Level 2, gold at Level 3.)

A qualified DMR assessor with real industry experience, most of our assessors have been on the tools themselves for ten years or more. They visit you onsite, observe the work you’re already doing, and build the evidence around it.

Yep. We’ve supported plenty of learners with dyslexia and other learning differences, and we build the support in from day one, not as an afterthought. The Q&A coursework pack can be handwritten, typed or recorded verbally, whichever works best for you.

CITB-registered employers can claim a grant of £600 for every employee or contractor who completes an NVQ Level 2 to 7. You can find more information on the CITB website.

Government NVQ funding is available for roofers who meet specific criteria. Please get in touch with us to find out if you are eligible for funding or visit our Funding & Grants page.

When you have completed your NVQ portfolio, our internal quality assurance team will check it for compliance. They will then claim your certificate with NOCN. Once we have received your certificate from the awarding body, we will forward it to you by recorded delivery. This process usually takes between two and four weeks.

On your jobs. We deliver across England, so wherever in the country you’re working, your assessor will come to site to observe you and gather evidence. There’s no classroom, no exam hall, and no travel for you

Yes, if you need a CSCS card while you are doing your qualification, you can apply for the Experienced Worker card. You can request this card as soon as we have enrolled you on the NVQ (you will also need to pass the CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test).

To apply for the temporary card, we will email you your proof of enrolment which you must submit to CSCS.

You will then upgrade to the Skilled Worker card once you have finished the qualification.
