COnstruction NVQ's- Everything you need to know!
Thinking of learning a trade? With the construction sector facing an ongoing shortage of skilled workers, now may be the best time to consider a career in the building industry. This is why at DMR, we specialise in NVQs (National Vocational Qualifications).
What is an NVQ?
NVQs are qualifications you can gain on the job, skills that are learnt in a practical environment to demonstrate your competence at the job. Essentially, this means you are assessed on what you can achieve during a day-to-day shift. There are no written exams.
How does a construction NVQ work?
As already stated, there are no written exams throughout this qualification. At DMR, we dedicate our efforts to making sure you understand how to operate on a site. So instead of writing essays, we collect evidence from your tenure on site as a form of assessment. This includes:
-
Workplace Evidence (Documents, Reports, Photos)
-
Observation from our staff (Managers, Supervisors)
-
Direct inspection from our assessor.
-
A Portfolio
We also offer one-to-one skill diagnostics, training plans, flexible learning methods, regular reports on progress, and support and guidance for our crew.
A big component of DMR is upskilling. We cover a range of construction trades that are facilitated with existing contractors. Then, finally, we provide a tailored course just for you.
What construction NVQ Levels are there?
We offer a wide variety of construction NVQs at DMR.
These start at Construction NVQ level 2 qualifications, a few include NVQs for:

Who are NVQs for?
You may be wondering if you’re eligible for this qualification. Well, it’s open to anybody, whether you’re already working in the industry, an apprentice, an experienced worker who doesn’t have an NVQ, somebody looking for a career change, or wanting to learn a completely new trade.
DMR offers qualifications to individuals who want to learn practically and are willing to put in the work.
How long does it take?
It’s all dependent on you. A construction NVQ is specific to the individual’s talents and current level of experience. It can take from six months to two years.
There is RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning), which means that if you are already experienced in the construction sector, you will graduate much quicker.
Are DMR NVQs recognised?
Yes, absolutely. Our Construction NVQs are Ofqual-regulated. We also hold many accreditations, including those from the UK Government, the EU, and apprenticeship companies. Construction NVQs are also valued by clients and customers nationwide.
