Powering Up Our Skills Bootcamps in Energy Efficiency and Green Skills
We pushed hard throughout 2022 in developing our low carbon training courses, while shining a spotlight on the vital role of retrofit in improving domestic energy efficiency in the UK. Now we’re looking ahead to 2023 with new training courses in energy efficiency and green skills.
We’re pleased to round off the year with the announcement that we’re launching a Skills Bootcamp for the next generation of energy-efficiency workers in Greater Manchester.
Skills Bootcamps are free, flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, giving people the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills and fast-track to an interview with an employer.
Our green skills bootcamp offers companies, workers and unemployed people a gateway into the energy efficiency and retrofit sectors.
The three-month training programme leads to a recognised level three vocational qualification in Energy Efficiency Measures in Older & Traditional Buildings or Domestic Retrofit Advice and comes with the offer of a guaranteed job interview. Course entrants will also receive support with employability skills, mental and physical health and well-being, and CSCS card training.
“Launching bootcamps in energy efficiency and green skills is a real boost for us as we continue to expand our offer in low carbon beyond Insulation and Building Treatment NVQs,” said Dave Radley, our managing director. “We have delivered a range of pathways for this NVQ over the years, resulting in hundreds of insulation workers gaining recognised qualifications in a vitally important trade.
However, the need for more skilled operatives and a larger workforce to meet increased demand means that NVQ assessment alone is not enough. Training and upskilling courses must be widely available and easily accessible so that newcomers to the sector, or those making the switch from other construction trades, have the training and support required to kick-start their new careers.
Through Skills Bootcamps, we can now deliver much-needed training for the sector while providing a greater range of qualifications and support to our clients. Green skills training is pivotal in developing a greener economy, and being able to contribute is a source of pride for everyone at DMR.”
Our Skills Bootcamps in Energy Efficiency and Green Skills will run early next year in Greater Manchester and places are available now to interested companies, self-employed workers and unemployed individuals in the region.
