TESTIMONIALS AND CASE STUDIES FROM REAL PEOPLE

All pathways include the mandatory three construction NVQ units:

What we can do for you.

  • Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
  • Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace
  • Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in the Workplace.
  • Preparing Structures for Treatment in the Workplace
  • Reinstating the Structure after Treatment in the Workplace.

Along with the generic mandatory units, you will also be expected to complete at least one additional unit (which is defined by your chosen pathway).

  • The Insulation and Building Treatments NVQ is delivered via the onsite assessment route for workers who meet the minumum level of experience.
  • It’s a vocational qualification and you’ll need to be in work.
  • No travelling or exams are involved: you’ll be observed in your place of work, participate in discussions with your NVQ assessor by telephone or online, and asked to submit work-based evidence via email.
  • Completion timescale is 6-12 weeks. Workers who require a CSCS Skilled Worker card (blue card) will become eligible on completion of the NVQ.

We’ve successfully delivered over 1000 NVQs in the last seven years. We offer excellent value for money compared to colleges and other training providers. The majority of our NVQ assessors have at least 10 years of experience in the industry. We work fast – we’ll aim to complete your level 2 NVQ in 8-12 weeks. We offer flexible payment. We won’t ask for the final 50% of the fee until you’ve finished the NVQ.

An NVQ qualification is recognition that you’ve reached a certain level of expertise in your trade, and also demonstrates your ability to work safely too. Together with a CSCS Card, your NVQ validates your skill and experience in the eyes of people who’ve never seen you work such as potential employers, site managers or new clients.

Gaining your NVQ via the on-site assessment and training route (OSAT) consists of two parts – knowledge and practical.

The practical side of the qualification involves building a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate that your skills meet the requirements of the NVQ. Evidence can be obtained in several ways including on-site observations, photographs, witness testimonies, 1-to-1 professional discussions and copies of company documentation (e.g. site induction records, risk assessments etc). Your NVQ assessor will advise you on the best ways to collect this evidence.

The knowledge side of the qualification involves answering a series of questions relating to your specific trade and health & safety. These can be handwritten or typed on a word processor. Your assessor will be available by phone and email to provide support and guidance.

When all evidence has been collected, your assessor will submit your portfolio for verification. You will receive your NVQ certificate shortly after and can then apply for your CSCS Card.

Onsite NVQ assessment is for construction workers who meet the recognised occupational standards. The qualification is a validation of your skills and experience. The Onsite Assessment and Training (OSAT) route allows you to achieve your NVQ through workplace assessment at your own speed. This qualification is a mandatory requirement in gaining your CSCS Skilled Worker card.

We deliver our construction NVQs through the Onsite Assessment (OSAT) route. We will assign you an NVQ assessor who will work with you for the duration of the course as you build a portfolio of evidence.

Types of evidence may include:

  • An onsite observation while you work, carried out by your assessor in your workplace
  • Photographs or videos of you working
  • References, employer endorsements or witness testimonies verifying your work in construction
  • Detailed job logs of work you have completed
  • A recorded professional discussion with your assessor either face-to-face or over the telephone
  • Coursework covering ‘theory’ and construction health and safety

Once your assessor is satisfied you have submitted sufficient evidence, our internal verification team will check your portfolio. They will then claim your NVQ certificate with the awarding body.

Construction workers in Greater Manchester, Lancashire and the Sheffield City Region may be eligible for government funding. Please contact us so we can check your eligibility. If you live or work outside these regions, we offer affordable self-funded assessment payable in two parts – 50% upfront and 50% on completion.

Please contact us to discuss funding and costs.

Although it can take up to six months or more to achieve their NVQ, we find that most complete Level 2 in two to three months, and Level 3 in three to four months. Ultimately, the qualification will fit around your professional and personal commitments. Work towards it at a speed you feel comfortable.
