Apprenticeship Grants Factsheet
There are currently two apprenticeship grants that construction employers within Greater Manchester could benefit from. These are:
GM AGE grant
Your company may be eligible for the GM AGE Grant if you meet the following criteria:
- You’re based within the GM authority.
- You have less than 250 employees.
- You’ve not employed an apprentice within the last 12 months or your last apprentice completed over 12 months ago.
- Your apprentice is aged between 16-24 and starts before the 31st July 2017.
Your company is able to claim for up to a maximum of three apprentices starting at the same time and you would receive £1,500 per apprentice.
A further incentive payment of £1,000 may also be available should you take on someone who has progressed from a completed traineeship programme.
It could take up to 26 weeks for you to receive the grant should your application be successful.
CITB also offer an apprenticeship grant which is available to both levy and non-levy paying construction companies. Payments are spread over two years and ‘in scope’ construction companies may receive up to £6,000 for a level 2 apprentice.
