Congratulations to Jack, Jamie, Corey and Jordan on completing their construction traineeships with flying colours this week. The teenage quartet started with DMR back in mid September. Since then they’ve taken their first steps in the construction industry, working with local employers three days a week while a fourth day was set aside for functional skills tutoring in Maths and English.
All four lads were extremely upbeat and positive about their time on the construction traineeship. “It was a fun experience and I feel it has helped me a lot,” said Jordan.
Jamie was also really enthusiastic about the course. “It got my brain working again and ready to learn!” he said.
The trainees were placed with three Leigh and Wigan-based building and maintenance firms: John Taylor Drives and Patios, Planahome and DMR Maintenance Services. All four lads are now progressing to 18 month apprenticeships in their chosen professions.
Are you aged 16-24 and interested in a career in Construction Groundworks? DMR is collaborating with Friends of Lilford Park on a young person’s traineeship program. The successful candidates will undertake a 6-12 week traineeship, working on construction projects in Lilford Park, Leigh. They’ll receive a £10-a-day training allowance and will have the chance to progress to a full apprenticeship.
