Salary: £43000 – £50000 (based on experience)
Role overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Curriculum and Standards to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our curriculum and quality assurance processes. The successful candidate will ensure that our training programmes meet the highest standards of educational excellence, align with industry requirements, and fulfil regulatory compliance, particularly concerning Awarding Organisations and Ofsted. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in curriculum design, quality assurance, and leadership within the education or training sector.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Curriculum Development and Management:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of innovative and effective curricula across all programmes, ensuring alignment with industry standards and learner needs.
- Regularly review and update course content to maintain relevance, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, trainers, assessors and stakeholders to develop engaging and effective learning materials and assessments.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive quality assurance framework to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
- Ensure all NVQ programmes comply with relevant awarding bodies, regulatory standards, and industry best practices.
- Lead the preparation and submission of the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and Quality Improvement Plan (QIP), driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Compliance with Awarding Organisations and Ofsted:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Awarding Organisation requirements and ensure all qualifications are delivered in accordance with their standards.
- Ensure readiness for Ofsted inspections by maintaining compliance with the Education Inspection Framework and implementing best practices as outlined in Ofsted’s guidance for further education and skills providers.
- Act as the main point of contact for Awarding Organisations and Ofsted, managing relationships and communications effectively.
- Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Ofqual regulations and the General Conditions of Recognition.
- Leadership and Management:
- Provide inspirational leadership to the curriculum and quality teams, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous professional development.
- Manage and mentor staff, conducting regular performance reviews and identifying opportunities for professional growth.
- Oversee resource allocation, budgeting, and planning to support curriculum development and quality assurance activities.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including awarding bodies, employers, and industry representatives, to ensure programmes meet market demands.
- Represent DMR Training & Consultancy at industry events, conferences, and meetings to promote our programmes and stay abreast of sector developments.
- Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Utilise data analytics to monitor programme performance, learner outcomes, and quality metrics, providing regular reports to senior management.
- Identify trends and areas for improvement, implementing evidence-based strategies to enhance programme quality and learner success.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience in a senior curriculum development and quality assurance role within the education or training sector.
- Strong knowledge of UK vocational education frameworks, regulatory requirements, and awarding body standards.
- Demonstrated experience in leading teams and managing complex projects.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
- Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
- A relevant degree or professional qualification in education, training, or a related field.
- Experience working with private training providers and understanding of the commercial training landscape.
- Familiarity with e-learning platforms and digital curriculum development.
- Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strategic thinking and the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data to inform decision-making.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in education and training.
