FoLP is a non-profit organisation that was set up to restore and maintain Lilford Park while promoting it throughout the local community. This year the park celebrates its centenary in high spirits yet only a decade ago, it was suffering badly after years of neglect. Thanks to generous donations, council investment and the hard work of FoLP, Lilford Park was rescued from its demise and is once again an engaging family attraction.
The on-going restoration of the park has lead to improved footpaths throughout the 350 acres of open parkland, increased seating, the opening of a children’s play area and clean public toilets. There is vast potential in the park for further development and future projects might include a café, open air music venue, skate park and other sporting facilities. The sky’s the limit.
DMR is a big supporter of community projects like FoLP (we’ve been proud sponsors of stage productions at the Turnpike Community Theatre). We’re establishing a partnership with FoLP that will see the park benefit from continued restoration work while providing trainees with an environment to gain valuable construction experience.
If you’re a young person interested in a traineeship or apprenticeship in General Construction Operations, or if you’d simply like to find out more about this venture, get in touch through the contact page on our website.
