Apprentices – Claim your discount travel tickets or free bicycle and accessories before it’s too late!
We’ve just found out about one of the latest offers for new apprentices in Greater Manchester – discount travel tickets or a free bicycle and accessories from Transport for Greater Manchester. With travel often being one of the biggest costs faced by new apprentices, this offer should make your commute to work more bearable for your wallet. If you’re still in the first six months of your apprenticeship and get to your job on public transport, do the smart thing and snap it up while you’re still eligible.
What do I get?
Eligible trainees get 100% FREE travel on buses and trams in Greater Manchester for the first 28 days, followed by massively reduced ticket prices for the following three months. Monthly discounts are based on a sliding scale:
|First 28 days||FREE||£120|
|Second 28 days||£25||£95|
|Third 28 days||£50||£70|
|Fourth 28 days||£75||£45|
If you fancy a healthier alternative – cycling to work – you can also claim a FREE bicycle, bike lights, hi-vis jacket and bike lock. Not sure about cycling on the roads in traffic? Boost your confidence by signing up for one of TfGM’s free bicycle proficiency training courses too.
How do I know if I’m eligible?
You need to be an apprentice in Greater Manchester and started your apprenticeship in the last six months.
How do I apply for the discount ticket or free bike?
Your training provider needs to be signed up to the scheme with TfGM before you can apply. If they already are, ask your provider for the application form, otherwise, get them to sign up by emailing Transport for Greater Manchester at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can find out more about the scheme on the TfGM website. Remember, apprentices are only eligible for the first six months of their apprenticeship so act now and don’t leave it till it’s too late.
